The work presented here can be read as my walking diary through the streets of New York City, during a residency. The series of 16 drawings are hand made copies, exact replicas of bits of paper I found in my stride.
Waste- means leftover, excess or garbage but it also speaks of time, effort or interest.
These drawings are the result of scrutinizing, with a magnifying glass, each millimeter of the piece of paper that had been thrown away, abandoned or forgotten by someone on the street.
When I came back to Mexico, I was wondering where to show this work, finally I called Semanario de lo Insólito magazine and presented myself as “The Human Photocopier”. They sent a reporter who wrote an article published in issue 733, selling in newsstands all over the country and serving as promotion and catalog for the exhibition at Celda Contemporánea in Mexico City from September 2005 to January 2006.
